The web and me

I am an outspoken, opinionated, disorganized and a rather haphazard serial entrepreneur, who loves to affect change and kick start processes that bring about necessary change. I think and analyse too much for my own good.

I observe the online world, and note how people and companies react to the new trends, new technologies and new tools. I watch those that fail, and those that succeed and draw my own conclusions from each. I then harness that knowledge to educate others and help them develop their own web strategy that allows them to achieve their corporate goals.

Much as I love the online space, and cannot imagine my life outside of it, I actually am quite cynical as to its power to affect the welfare of a brand, especially in South Africa. I feel that there is a huge chasm between online and offline here, and sometime those that are entrenched in the online space tend to overblow its importance. I feel a need for balance is necessary, otherwise the expectations are unrealistic, and a lot of unnecessary disappointment occurs.

On the other hand, my passion for the power of online is uncompromising, and my ambition is to help bridge the above mentioned online/offline chasm. I do that through various ways, most of which you can read about in My Projects page.

I spend a good deal of my time reading, researching, writing and speaking about online trends, specifically focussed on social media as well as startups. I have the blueprints for two big startups of my own, and am slowly placing them into action. They are the ones that will make a gazillion dollars (each) :-)

On a more personal note, I am 37 years old, live in Pretoria, South Africa, work in Pretoria/Johannesburg and am a single mother to my 8 year old daughter who keeps me on my toes.
